TAFE Queensland has partnered with world-renowned fashion icon and artisan turned educator, Professor Jimmy Choo OBE, to deliver a series of must-attend events left around innovation and creativity in the fashion industry.

Professor Choo will be the guest of honour across all events over the four days in Brisbane, three of which will be ticketed for fashion lovers to attend. The final event will be a special educational workshop for fashion students, dedicated to the art of shoe making and design.

Across the series you will have a chance to hear from Professor Choo himself, as well as key minds from across the worlds of retail and fashion, including representatives from Westfield and Cue.

Business Luncheon with Professor Jimmy Choo

Professor Jimmy Choo will be the guest of honour at our exclusive business luncheon, where fine food and fine art will collide. Guests will have the opportunity to bid in a silent auction for Professor Jimmy Choo’s art works as well as additional pieces from local artisans. Proceeds of the auction will support the on-going education of TAFE Queensland fashion students. The business luncheon will provide the opportunity to mingle with industry professionals while Professor Choo discusses his memorable experiences in developing shoes for his high profile clientele.

Symposium: Creating fashion in the real world

Saturday 30th September, 2017

Lead by Professor Choo, the TAFE Queensland Fashion Symposium will bring together the brightest minds from retail, fashion and the broader creative industries to discuss creating consumer products in today’s world.  As a creative, you will be exposed to discussions around market trends, ethical production, disruptive advertising within the fashion industry, and engaging a business mentor.  The afternoon will consist of a panel discussion of industry experts centred around starting in the fashion world. 

A special sub-event will be held during the breaks to showcase TAFE Queenslands’ leading fashion centre of excellence which focuses on promoting innovation and creativity through applied skills. Read more about this event here.
